In Loving Memory of Al Caston
1947-2026
Albert (Al) James Caston III, lovingly known as “Opa,” passed away peacefully at home on January 17, 2026, at the age of 78. He was born on November 23, 1947.
Al graduated from LSU with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics in 1974 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. His military service reflected his deep sense of duty, resilience, and commitment to others.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert James Caston II; his mother, Francis Smiley Caston; his grandson, Elijah Oldham; and his beloved wife, Maria Caston.
Albert is survived by his loving family: his son, Chip Caston; his daughter, Karissa Henderson (husband Daniel Henderson); and his cherished grandchildren, Jaclyn Mason (husband Alex Mason), Jacob Caston (wife Kendyl Caston), and Delaney Oldham. He also leaves behind his treasured great-grandchildren: Ace Caston, Emerson Burnley, Vera Burnley, and Beckham Burnley - who brought him immense joy.
It is with deep love and gratitude that we celebrate the life of Al Caston, a devoted Opa, compassionate friend, and a shining presence to all who knew him. Family was at the heart of everything Al did. To his children and loved ones, he was a steady source of strength, wisdom, and unconditional support.
Active in the recovery community, Al dedicated much of his life to helping others find hope and healing. Through his service, he touched countless lives, offering guidance, understanding, and genuine care. He believed deeply in second chances and in the power of people to lift one another up.
Those who knew Al will remember his generous spirit, his quiet wisdom, and his unwavering belief in life’s goodness. Whether through a thoughtful conversation, a helping hand, or a warm smile, he gave freely and fully, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and grace.
He will be forever missed and forever loved by his family, friends, and all whose lives he so deeply impacted. May his memory continue to inspire us to love more deeply, serve more generously, and never lose hope.
