Barbara Hayes Haynes

July 24, 1954 – July 28, 2025 Nashville, TN

Barbara Hayes Haynes, 71, of Nashville, TN, passed away on July 28, 2025, after giving life and several medical conditions a serious run for their money. She left this world eternally better than she found it and surrounded by love.

Born in Nashville on July 24,1954, Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, John D. and Mary Blanche (Neisz) Hayes; her loving brother Jim (aka Bubba) and his wife, Brenda — all of whom are now undoubtedly reunited and catching up over a cold drink and tall tales.

She is survived by her devoted sister and best friend, Linda Hayes Page, along with their beloved furbabies Andy, Joey, and Coco Chanel (yes, really). Barbara and Linda were simply known as “The Sisters.” You rarely saw one without the other. They lived together for over 50 years and shared a love for travel, UT Volunteers football, and doing life on their own Sister terms. They were Nashville Multifamily’s answer to Ouiser + Clairee, just with better pant suits and stronger martinis.

To know Barbara was to know joy, style, and just the right amount of sparkle — and she had the personality playlist to match. Her love for Motown was endless, she had a lifelong crush on Jimmy Buffett and could quote The Wizard of Oz from memory. She believed in fine dining, great music, and good times with friends and family. She was known for her great sense of humor, her beautiful smile, a laugh that filled the room, and beautiful hair that never once had a bad day.

Professionally, Barbara was a force — 38 years in property management, a long-time GNAA board member, and Chair of the Greater Nashville Apartment Association in 2000. She wasn’t just respected; she was loved. Barbara had a gift for making everyone feel like family — especially those who cared for her at St. Thomas West. To her dream team of doctors — Dr. Stacey Vallejo, Dr. Cecelia Fisher, Dr. Ronald Pruitt, Dr. Tyson Thomas, and Dr. Natalie Dickson— Barbara took a personal interest in every single one of you, and you’ll forever be part of her story.

A celebration of Barbara’s amazing life will be held at a later date. In the meantime, raise a glass to Barbara and toast the way she lived: with gratitude for the past, joy in the present and hopeful anticipation for the future.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Barbara’s name to the Nashville Humane Society (because she loved animals more than most people) or the GNAA Emergency Relief Fund (because she loved her industry family almost as much).
