Betty Jean Lassing

Betty Jean Smith Lassing passed away peacefully on August 17, 2023 after a long and beautiful life. Born in Paris TN on December 10, 1930, Betty was the wife of John M Lassing Jr. She was the mother of 4 : Pam Wells (Will), Anne Bogitsh (Hunter), John Charles “Chuck” (Cindy), and Mary Kathryn “Tootie” Kelley ( Steven); grandmother of 12; great grandmother of 4.  A graduate of St Thomas School of Nursing, she was a lifelong nurse and caregiver to all those with whom she came in touch. For over 60 years, she was an integral part of Belle Meade UMC where she demonstrated her love and faith in so many ways. “Nana,” as she was adoringly known, unconditionally loved her family, her friends and all creatures great & small. Many of her joys included spending time at the lake house with family, working in her garden and yard, providing a sanctuary for the birds she loved and preparing delicious “Nana food” for all. A memorial service will be held at Belle Meade United Methodist Church on Thursday, August 24th at 11:00am. Visitation will be held in the church lounge on August 23rd from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.
