Lilia de Peláez, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law, and friend to many, passed away peacefully at home in Hendersonville, Tennessee, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

Lilia was born on August 3, 1928, in Girardot, Colombia and moved to Bogotá, Colombia where she met her late husband of 43 years Milton Peláez. They had five children: Edgar & María Clara, Armando & Ana Lucia, Jeannette & Mac, John Milton & Ana María, Diego, and looked after her niece Dorita. She was blessed with 8 grandchildren María Alejandra & Luis, Nicolás & Maggie, Daniel, Catalina & Diego, Andrew & Natalie, Justin & Noel, Felipe & Ellie, and Mariana & Sam, as well as 4 great grandchildren: Graceleigh, Carolina, Alejandro, and Ellie Drew.

Lilia’s faith was characterized by a sacrificial love of serving, compassion and dedication to her family, friends and all around her. She encouraged her children to work hard to be successful, and she provided them with the best education possible. All her children successfully completed college degrees.

Lilia was talented in many ways and lived her life to the fullest. She was an avid animal lover, especially birds, and never stopped learning. She was talented and creative as a seamstress, in flower arrangements, knitting, cooking, jewelry making and crafts. She loved to sing & play the guitar and participated in choirs and musicals. Lilia played tennis, rode horses, bowled and participated in a 5K where she earned a gold medal in her eighties. She loved to travel and was able to travel around the world. She took English lessons most of her life until her passing.

Fulfilling a lifetime dream, she moved to Hendersonville, Tennessee in 2021, to live with her daughter Jeannette and her family, and was granted US residency in 2023. During her last 4 years of life, she was able to be closer to her family and enjoyed her life to the fullest until God called her into His arms while surrounded by her loved ones.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Our lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 1729 Stop 30 Rd. Hendersonville, TN 37075.

Visitation 10:30 am. followed by Mass at 12:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Prayer Garden/ Columbarium at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
