David Glen Turner

June 20, 1930 — February 21, 2024

Nashville, TN

After a beautiful 93 years on this earth, our Dad, and wonderful husband to Mom for 67 years, peacefully left this earth for heaven.  He always spent time with us playing catch, shooting baskets or just sitting around playing bluegrass…and there was always a hunting or fishing adventure right around the corner.  For those of you that knew him, he had a tenor voice that would lift the roof right off the top of the church, while our Mom faithfully played the piano beside him. We will always remember waking up at home every Sunday morning hearing them practice, getting ready for church. The sounds of music always filled our house for as far back as we can remember. We can’t imagine two boys could grow up in a happier home. Can’t imagine more loving parents.

David Glen Turner always smiled, right up 'til the end…. and he had hundreds of stories at the ready that would make you smile, laugh or just remember, and you’d always find yourself pulling in to him, just a little closer, to see the sparkle in his eyes while he told them.  They are all etched in our minds, and we all intend to make sure all the grandkids know them by heart too.

Mostly, we will forever be thankful to experience one of life’s greatest privileges when our family got to be with Dad, holding his hands, hugging him and singing hymns and praying with him, right up until he closed his eyes for the last time.  Our sweet, brave and resilient Mom right there the whole time taking care of him as she always has.  Over those quiet hours, it was amazing to see the struggle on his face, that comes from trying to beat a worn-out heart, simply fade away and turn into the most peaceful look you’ll ever see.  The sun was gently peeking in through the blinds when he left, and through the tears we all felt waves of thankfulness. Thankful for our Dad. Thankful for our family.  Thankful for it all.  It was simple proof that he in fact was not finished but only just beginning. That we will all be fine too.
