A Life of Faith and a Testimony of Grace
Enola Rae JanstoAugust 8, 1955 – October 5, 2026
Proverbs 31:30 "Favour [is] deceitful, and beauty [is] vain: [but] a woman [that] feareth the LORD, she shall be praised."
On October 5th 2026 Enola Rae Jansto of Oak Ridge Tennessee, finished her earthly journey and entered into the presence of the Lord and Saviour whom she loved and trusted.
While her passing brings sorrow to those who loved her, it also brings the blessed assurance that the faith she lived by has now become sight. The Lord in whom she placed her trust throughout her life has faithfully brought her home.
Enola was, above all, a woman who feared the Lord. Her faith was not just a profession and a box to be checked, but somehting that wa sdriving her to a following of Christ and His walk for her. Though joys and trials came and went, her faith in the goodness, grace, and faithfulness of God stayed true. Her testimony was not that life was always easy, but that the Lord was always faithful. Job 23:10 "But he knoweth the way that I take: [when] he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold."
God blessed Enola with a love for music, and a passionatly fierce care for others. She was a pianist for both Solway Baptist Church and Wrigley Baptist Church, in addition to being a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for over 20 years.
The hymns she played spoke of the same truths upon which she rested her soul: salvation by His grace alone, the faithfulness of God, the promises of His Word, and the blessed hope of Heaven. Though her hands are now still upon this earth, the testimony of those songs continues in the hearts of those who heard them.
We should take comfort from family takes comfort in the words of 2 Corinthians 5:8 "We are confident, [I say], and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." We sorrow because we love her, but we do not sorrow as those who have no hope. The separation is real, and she is already dearly missed. Yet for those who know the same Saviour, there remains the blessed promise of reunion.
Enola leaves behind a testimony more enduring than earthly accomplishments: a life that pointed others to Jesus Christ. Her greatest legacy is not simply the music she played, the work she performed, or the years she lived, but the Lord whom she trusted.
And perhaps the sweetest thought of all is that the woman who spent so many years playing the songs of Zion is now in the presence of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost about whom she played.
Psalms 116:15 "Precious in the sight of the LORD [is] the death of his saints."
She is survived by her husband of 43 years Tom, her son Matthew Brackett, and his wife, Chelsea; her grandson, Joah Brackett; her aunt Betty Pascal; her cousins Robin Hutson and Christy Holt; her nieces, Chasity McGinnis, Courtney Leatherwood, Jennifer Scott, and Stephanie Brummit, her nephews Travis Hall and Derek Cantrell, her brother Jimmy; and her sisters Michelle Oster and Sheila Cantrell. She was preceded in death by her father Arthur Lee Hall and her mother Carleen Oody Hall.
