Goldia Marieda Robbins Nichols, 90, passed from this life on October 21, 2013 after a short illness. Visitation with the family in Erin, TN, will be held at 2 PM Sunday, October 27 at Arlington Cumberland Presbyterian Church followed by a graveside service at Arlington Cemetery at 3 PM with Bro. Terry Mathis officiating. Visitation with the family in Nashville will be held at Calvary United Methodist Church Sunday, October 27 from 6:30-8:00 PM and Monday, October 28 from 10-11 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11 AM with Rev. Peter van Eys and Rev. Bryan Brooks officiating. Goldia was born August 2, 1923, in the Bethsaida community of Overton County, TN and graduated from Southeastern High School in Detroit, MI. While she was primarily a homemaker throughout her life, she also worked building battle tanks during World War II and in retail sales in Detroit, Memphis and Erin, as well as in the cafeteria at Erin Elementary School. She was a devoted sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and the Pathfinders Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Nichols; her parents, Curtis Franklin and Verna Bilbrey Robbins; infant son, Kenneth Wade Nichols, and 5 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law David and Pat Nichols and grandsons Hal and Patrick Nichols, all of Nashville; sister-in-law Betty Robbins of Onaway, MI and many nieces and nephews.
