Gregory Leo Nieves, age 49, originally of Naples, Florida and residing in Gallatin, Tennessee for the past decade, passed away on September 5, 2026, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Born on August 1, 1977, in Fort Hood, Texas, he was the son of Wilfredo and America Nieves. Greg proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Throughout his life, he was known for his kindness, unwavering loyalty, and caring nature. He had a generous heart and was always willing to help those he loved — whether through a listening ear, a home‑cooked meal, or simply being present when someone needed him. Gregory made those around him feel valued and loved. An avid gamer and talented cook, Greg found joy in sharing his passions with family and friends. Above all else, his greatest pride was his family. His children meant the world to him, and he never missed an opportunity to express how deeply he loved them. The bond he shared with them was one of the defining joys of his life. Even in passing, Greg’s compassion continued to touch others. As an organ donor, he gave the gift of life through the donation of his heart and lungs, leaving behind a lasting legacy of generosity, hope, and selflessness. Gregory leaves behind his children, Anthony, Shaundra, and Nicholas; his stepdaughter, Stephanie Butler; his brother, Michael Nieves; and his sisters, Inez Goodson and Yadira Blackwell. He was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, sharing a particularly close bond with Alycia Goodson, Steven Goodson, Toni Fullilove, and his cherished great‑niece, Mia Bryant. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfredo Nieves and America Nieves, and his brother, Anthony Nieves. Gregory will be remembered for his kind spirit, steadfast loyalty, loving heart, and devotion to his family. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, the love he shared, the memories he created, and the lives he touched will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy continues through his children, his family, and the extraordinary gift he gave through organ donation.
