Harry Kenneth "Ken" Powers age 90, passed away on October 5, 2019 at AdamsPlace Continuing Care Residence in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He was born in Elmhurst, IL on July 3, 1929, of the late Vere J Powers, and Mildred K Powers. Ken is survived by his son Raymond Powers (wife Janet), daughter Judy Johnson (husband Greg), grandchildren Ashley Huna (husband Jonathan), and Ryan Johnson. He was a widower, and was married for 58 years to Mary Virginia "Ginny" Powers (maiden name Siebert), who passed June 28, 2018. Through his life Ken enjoyed square dancing (where he met Ginny), and they loved to travel and camp. They visited all 50 states, Canada and Mexico. Ken served in various leadership positions in several camping clubs, and was a member of Good Sam's. Ken had several careers through his life. He was a chaplain's assistant in the Army, mailman, milkman, custodian, and retired as a maintenance man/groundskeeper working for the Glenbard North High School in Carol Stream, IL. He lived in Wheaton, IL for 30 years, where he and Ginny raised their two children. Ken faithfully served in the Methodist Church in almost every position within the senior group, drove the church bus, ushered, and volunteered in "Lick and Stick" at Wesley United Methodist Church in Springfield, MO where he and his wife spent most of their retirement. Three years ago, they moved to Smyrna, TN and joined a church there prior to moving to Mary Queen of Angels in Nashville in April 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Smyrna First United Methodist Church. (301 Sam Davis Rd. Smyrna, TN 37167) A military service will be held at Nashville National Veterans Cemetery on October 17 th at 11am
