Jack Joseph Shaw, age 80, passed away peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee on the morning of August 27, 2021, holding the hand of his beloved wife Velma. Born in London, Ontario (Canada) on February 4, 1941, Jack grew up with parents Ann and Doug Shaw and siblings Maryann, Don, and Doug Jr., in a house he fondly remembered on Hydro Street. For 40 years, he worked tirelessly for the same company. He began his career at Northern Electric in London, Ontario, transferred to Amherst, Nova Scotia for two and a half years, then relocated to Nashville, where he eventually retired from Northern Telecom / Nortel Networks. Jack’s career gave him the opportunity to travel the world, and he remained in close touch with many of his colleagues and their families. A passionate coin collector and lover of clocks, trains, drag races, and bakeries, Jack will be remembered for his quick wit, strong work ethic, generous nature, and commitment to his family. He leaves behind Velma (Gracey) Shaw, his wife of 58 years, son, Mark Shaw (Melissa Tuttle) of Charlotte, North Carolina, and daughter, Jill Shaw (Brad Chase) of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Jack was so proud of his children and their accomplishments, and his face beamed following the birth of granddaughter, Claire Chase. Jack will also be deeply missed by numerous nieces and nephews and many others who knew and loved him. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at a future date, followed by a private service at Dorchester Union Cemetery, in Dorchester, Ontario. Donations in Jack’s memory can be made to the American Red Cross. (jjshaw@bellsouth.net).
