On Monday, July 28, 2025, James Dudley Galloway, Jr. passed away in Nashville, TN, at the age of 73. James, or Jimmy, was born February 11, 1952, in Vanderbilt Hospital. He attended Parmer Elementary School, Hillsboro High School, Vanderbilt University, and Millsaps College. He was a member of the Hillsboro marching band; and as a member of Boy Scout Troop 87 at Belle Meade United Methodist Church, he earned the God and Country Award, was inducted into the Order of the Arrow, and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Whether hiking, biking, camping or canoeing, Jimmy loved the outdoors and was a passionate supporter of land conservation and an advocate for environmental responsibility. With a lifelong interest in history, Jimmy was an active participant in several historical organizations.
Jimmy was predeceased by his mother, Helen M. Galloway, and his father, J. Dudley Galloway, Sr. He is survived by his sister, Ann Galloway Lowe, a niece, Amy Lowe Howell, a great-niece, Addison Howell, and a nephew, James Franklin Lowe, as well as several cousins.
Jimmy’s intellect and keen sense of humor will be missed.
His interment will be private and a memorial gathering will be announced later.
