Chief Petty Officer Jason Tazwell Tate (USN, Retired), age 51, passed away on November 16, 2024.
He was born on April 16, 1974 in Enterprise, Alabama, and spent his childhood in Germany and Clarksville, Tennessee.
Jason proudly served his country for 22 years in the United States Navy, retiring with honor at the rank of Chief. He carried the values of service, loyalty, and integrity with him long after his military career ended.
He is survived by his loving wife, Laura Tate; his step son, Phoenix Lenz; his daughter in law, Hannah Lenz; his grandson, Stetson Lenz; and his daughter, Brooklynn Tate, who brought him immeasurable joy. He is also survived by his nephew, John Tate, and his niece, Erin Tate.
Jason was preceded in death by his father, Dale W. Tate; his mother, Diann Tate; and his brother, Brian W. Tate.
Jason was known for his quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and the kind of generous heart that made people feel safe and seen. He loved deeply and fiercely, especially when it came to the family he cherished above all else. After a lifetime of service and adventure, Jason looked forward to enjoying his retirement with Laura on their farm in East Tennessee, surrounded by the land and the people he loved.
He found joy in traveling with Laura, cheering on Alabama football, and listening to Old School Hip Hop. These were simple pleasures that brought him comfort and connection throughout his life.
Jason’s legacy will live on in every life he touched, in the stories shared by those who loved him, and in the quiet strength he carried throughout his life.
