Jerry Alex Brown, aged 90, of Nashville passed into the arms of Jesus on Friday, October 10th, 2025.
Jerry was predeceased by his beloved wife of 47 years, Mary Alice, as well as his son David. He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie, and his son, Kevin (Mindy), as well as three much-loved grandchildren and one precious great-grandchild.
Jerry was born in Plant City, Florida on January 9th, 1935, to parents Ellsworth and Nona Brown. He graduated from Stetson University as well as The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jerry proudly served in the Army, stationed in Korea during the late 1950’s.
Jerry loved his family, friends, travel, swimming and diving, playing and watching golf, going out to eat, Auburn football, laughing uproariously, and of course, singing. He would sing to anyone, anytime. Waitresses, nurses, the lady in the grocery checkout – everyone got a song from Jerry, either a hymn or “Oh What a Beautiful Morning.”
Jerry gave his life to Jesus at age nine, and he committed his life to Christian service at the age of 16 while serving as the music leader during a youth-led revival at his home church. His 43 years of service as a minister of music allowed him to live out his love of sacred music by singing solos as well as leading choirs and congregations in praise to God. Jerry loved studying God’s word, talking with Him in prayer, telling others what Christ meant to him, and worshipping Him with all of his heart, soul, and voice.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at The Church at Harpeth Heights on Monday, November 17 at 1:00 p.m.
