Obituary

Our dear sweet Jimmy Doyle Roberts passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026. He passed peacefully in his home just before noon. He was 89 years young. Papa Doyle, as we knew him in Tennessee, served as a tour bus driver for more than 60 years. He drove for many Christian Gospel Singers from 1961 to 1998 and during 1999 to 2025 for various Country Artist. He met and encountered thousands of people as he traveled on the roads. Anyone who ever met him could not forget him. We will remember him always as a man of deep faith with a servant’s heart. His legacy of love for his family and friends with his faith will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jimmy Doyle Roberts, also known to his friends and family as Jimmy D and Doyle, was born on December 1, 1936, to loving parents Thomas and Myrtle Roberts in Lorenzo, Texas and resided in Nashville, TN, and was a devoted Christian.

Jimmy Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Clarence and Myrtle Ruby Roberts and his 11 siblings James Cecile, Enoch Hermon (EH), Thomas Lloyd, Myrtle Mae, Charles Leroy, Johnny Monroe, Doris Roberta, Donald Eugene, Catherine Virgina, Melvin Troy and Thelma Ruth. He is survived by many nieces and nephews and cousins, in a multitude amount that is nearly countless to mention.

Jimmy Doyle wanted us to remember the verse selected below as he was always living for Jesus, and as his mother Myrtle Ruby would say: “Live right and hope to meet you in Heaven”.

"1 Peter 2:24 "He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”

His Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 11:00 am at Proclamation Church, 308 E Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN 37211.
