Joseph Satterly

March 1, 1953 — July 15, 2017

Joey Satterly, 64, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Vanderbilt Medical Center, surrounded by friends and family, after bravely battling a series of medical complications.Joey was born March 1, 1953 to parents Suerene and Milton Satterly of Springfield, KY. He was an only child and both of his parents preceded him in death. Growing up, Joey worked on his family's dairy farm and attended Willisburg Baptist Church, where his father Milton was a deacon. Joey was married to Sharon Tingle from 1973 to 1980 and has one daughter, Rebekah Greer and son-in-law Jeremiah Greer, who live in Sarasota FL. They soon will be welcoming Joey's first granddaughter.Joey spent his life enjoying racing, big trucks, country music, and the outdoors. He had a huge heart and a hearty voice that was unmistakable. For years, Joey traveled across the country as a long distance trucker. From this he gained many friends and life experiences. He spent the last 25+ years in Nashville operating his towing business, TowBiz. Most recently he had retired to a simple life "in the country" in Nunnelly, TN with his blue heeler Rebel, living near his good friend of nearly 40 years, Billy Brooks. Joey was blessed to have several close friends in Nashville who were more like family to him.Joey's family has chosen cremation and a memorial service will be held this fall at his home in Nunnelly, TN. Arrangements will be announced, and memories/condolences can be shared via his Facebook memorial page - Joey Satterly. Special thanks to the caring and wonderful staff of the Vanderbilt Medical Center ICU and 8 th floor South.
