Obituary

Lemmie David Goodloe Jr.

Lemmie David Goodloe Jr., born May 21, 1958, in Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on October 20, 2026. He was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and faithful man of God whose life was defined by love, loyalty, generosity, and dedication to his family.

Lemmie worked in maintenance at Vanderbilt and in his younger years enjoyed swimming and serving as a lifeguard. Known for his caring heart and willingness to help others, he was a father figure to many and a man who could always be counted on.

A dedicated member of Love Cathedral throughout his adult life, Lemmie loved the Lord, gospel music, and singing. His favorite song was Marvin Sapp’s “Never Would Have Made It.” In his spare time, he enjoyed playing pool, watching Star Trek and Western movies, and spending time with his loved ones. He especially enjoyed indulging in his favorite dishes, popcorn and KFC.

Lemmie shared 45 loving years of marriage with his wife, Janet, whom he met in South Nashville. He also shared a special bond with his sister, Lashawn, whom he spoke with every single day. His family was his greatest blessing and he will be remembered for his unwavering love, old-school ways, and generous spirit.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Janet Goodloe; his children, Lemmie Goodloe III, Nichole Goodloe, Cambra Goodloe, Jimmie Goodloe, and Daniel Goodloe; his sister, Lashawn Goodloe-Baker; his grandchildren, A’Layla, Isaiah, and Mariah; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Charmaine Goodloe; his sister, Carolyn Mills-Brownlow; his brother, Danny Goodloe; his father, Lemmie David Goodloe Sr.; and his mother, Ernestine Archibald.

Though he will be deeply missed, Lemmie’s faith, love, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will forever be remembered as a devoted family man, a faithful servant of God, and a loving presence in the lives of so many.
