Leonard Bacarella

November 6, 1953 — March 30, 2015

Leonard Anthony Bacarella of Murfreesboro, Tenn., died unexpectedly on March 30, 2015, at the age of 61. A native of Oak Ridge, he was the son of the late scientists Anthony Leonard Bacarella and Geraldine Meyer Bacarella. He graduated Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, Tenn., and attended university at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and Middle Tennessee State University. A lifelong lover of music, and an accomplished musician, Leo travelled throughout the Southeast during the 1970s playing guitar in several blues and rock bands. Over the next 30 years, Leo played guitar and led worship in churches, conferences, and festivals in Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Alaska and North Carolina. Leo also served our nation and its citizens in the military as a member of the United States Army from 1985 to 1989, specializing in Aviation Operations while stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska. Leonard is survived by his sister, Lynn Bacarella Wright of Clinton, Tenn.; his nephews, Gabriel Lee Wright of Louisville, Tenn., Leonard Alexander Wright of Clinton, Tenn., Benjamin David Wright of Houston, Texas; his lifelong friend, Joyce Reed; and many friends, far and close, deep and wide, too numerous to recount here. These dear ones do and shall always cherish Leo and hold his memory dear. A Memorial Service will be held in his honor on Friday, April 24, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Nashville National Cemetery, 1420 Gallatin Pike South, Madison, TN 37715. A gathering for those who wish to attend will follow with the location to be announced. This will be an informal gathering providing a chance for people to share fond memories and honor Leo's life, his memory, and rejoice about the new home that he has secured in his eternal abode with his Heavenly Father.NASHVILLE FUNERAL AND CREMATION 615-256-1605
