Remembering Marlene Lucille Clark

Born October 27, 1936, in Leesburg, VA, and leaving those whom she loved and cherished on October 31, 2025, in Lebanon, TN, Marlene, known affectionately as “Momo,” loved many things. Her family came first and foremost, followed by her love of painting, writing poems, traveling, cooking, and baking. During the Vietnam War era, she was a Master Switchboard Operator at Ft. Myer Army Base in Arlington, VA, where she was able to place calls from soldiers to their loved ones back in the States. She loved sitting with friends and telling stories, both old and new, and there were many. Her love of living life to its fullest triumphed until the end. She loved the Lord and was never shy to talk to anyone about His Word. Her faith was strong. She is preceded in death by her husband, George W. Clark, who died 13 years to the day earlier; her father, William T. Clatterbuck; and her mother, Frances Clatterbuck Hough; a brother-in-law, Sherman Clark; a sister, MaryAnne Batey; and a son, Randy Gibbins; along with many aunts and uncles. She is survived by two sisters, Janice (Edward) Clyburn and Wendy (John) Burr, and a brother Joe (Doris) Clatterbuck; three children, George R. Clark (Caryl), Michael L. Clark, and Patti Clark; several nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Cassi (Jason) Webster, Kati (Vic) Moore, Kelli (Jason) Devol, Ericka Clark, Kayla (Justin) Tagg, Dakota (Kora) Clark, Renee Gibbins, Kristina Gibbins, Michael Gibbins; and great-grandchildren, Lillian, Andria, Brianna, Jaxon Devol, Madison Webster, Ava Moore, Kaedence Clark, Cainon, Kyra, Kaliyah, Chloe, Megan, Hunter, Kaylee, Mylah, and Jaxon (#2). Other great-grandchildren include Cohen, Lilly, James, Kasen, Paislee, and Regan. The family will gather to celebrate Marlene’s life on a future date. Thanks to Abbie Stafford and Emma Carson at Gentiva Hospice for your unparalleled support. Although we thought she would be with us a bit longer, God had other plans—no more suffering and pain. Rest easy, Momo. Paint those sunsets for us to enjoy.
