On Friday, March 6, 2020, Michael Vincent Johnson, loving father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 70. Michael was born on March 7, 1949 in Louisville, KY to Joesph and Arbee Johnson. He graduated from Father Ryan High School in Nashville. He served in the Army and was honorably discharged. He went on to finish his degree at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1985.
He spent more than 45 years in the airline industry working for multiple airlines including Eastern, USAir, and American in various positions and ending in dispatch. Mike had a passion for airplanes and their history, shooting sports, and rock climbing. He also loved reading and was an avid science fiction fan. He was known for his wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, and his mother, Arbee. He is survived by his daughter, Leigh Ann, his grandson Michael, his brothers Ken and Terry, several cousins, two nieces, and a nephew. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 13th, 2020 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Nashville, TN. The Visitation will open to the public at 10am with the mass to start at 12pm. The church is located at 5101 Charlotte Avenue Nashville, TN 37209. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Red Cross, your local Humane Society, or Friends of Scouting. Due to the recent presence of the corona virus and flu season we encourage the elderly and those with chronic disease to send a condolence card instead of attending.
