Ruth French

Ruth Ella French, age 95, passed away on December 7, 2020, at McKendree Manor in Hermitage, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents: George Hatten French and Claudia Huckabay French; sister: Bernice French Coffee; brother: Otis Houston French; and friend: Katherine Andrews.She was born in northeast Arkansas on November 15, 1925. Ruth graduated from Rector High School, Hendrix College, George Peabody College with a graduate degree. She taught in the public schools in Arkansas and Missouri before teaching vocational classes in Nashville for 38 years.Ruth was a member of Donelson Presbyterian Church, an active member of the Dot New Circle and the Senior Sunday School Class. In retirement, Ruth was active in local AARP Chapter, Stones River Women's Club, Friends of Donelson Library, faithfully volunteering at Hospital Hospitality House and the gift shop at McKendree Village.Ruth is survived by friends: Mary Lou Markham, Melinda Hoffman and Joseph Dick, and Donna and Larry Dixon. A heart felt thank you to all caregivers at McKendree Manor, Adoration Hospice and Senior Helpers.A memorial service with Rev. Paul Casner will precede interment at Donelson Presbyterian Columbarium at a later date.
