Sidney Franklin

Sidney Franklin, age 72, of Fairview, Tennessee, passed away peacefully after short battle with cancer on June 9, 2014. Born on April 21, 1942, in Southall, Middlesex, England, Sidney lived a life marked by passion, personality, and a deep love for the things that moved him—quite literally.

Sidney was a lifelong enthusiast of planes, trains, and automobiles. Whether he was proudly showing off his beloved Jaguar or carefully assembling model airplanes and cars, his joy for mechanics and motion was evident to all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Mary Ann (Tracy) Young and John Christopher (Amy) Franklin; and his beloved grandchildren, Christopher Franklin, Peyton Young, William Young, and Andrew Young. Sidney was a proud father and grandfather, and his family will cherish his memory forever.

A celebration of Sidney’s life will take place this September, just as he would have wanted—surrounded by friends, music, and good times with his favorite local band at his favorite hangout.

In lieu of a formal service, his family invites all who knew Sidney to remember him in the way he lived: with joy, laughter, and a shared love for life’s great adventures.
