Stephen Dodson Partin

April 23, 1947 — May 28, 2024

Brentwood, TN

        Steve Partin, of Brentwood, TN, passed away May 28, 2024 at the age of 77. He was originally from Cunningham, KY. Steve graduated from Murray State University in 1970, joining the Army National Guard shortly after. He loved this country deeply and demonstrated that by serving in both the Army National Guard and the Army Reserve from 1970 until his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1996. 

        He worked in several capacities for State Farm Insurance from 1972-2010, later returning to work with First Acceptance Corporation from 2017-2024. In addition to working in insurance, Steve was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

In his personal life, Steve’s hobbies included fishing at Kentucky Lake and woodworking, particularly building furniture for his family. He enjoyed making homemade ice cream, grilling pork tenderloin, and playing with his grandkids. He was a member of Brentwood United Methodist Church and served as an usher for several years. 

Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Ester Partin.  Steve is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; four children-John Michael, Mary Susan (David), Andrew (Kristi), Grace (Andrew); seven grandchildren-Jacob, Emily, and Thomas Hamilton; Isla, Ashton, and Everett Partin; and Charlie Denton; his father, Delbert Partin; brothers Ronnie (Debbie) Partin and Bobby (Jana) Partin, and nieces and nephews. 

        Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June, 4, 2024 at Brentwood United Methodist Church from 12pm-1pm in the Narthex. 

A private graveside service will be held. Steve will be laid to rest at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. 

The family has requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society and Harmony Foundation, Inc. of Estes Park, CO, in lieu of flowers.

        Pallbearers include John Michael Partin, Andrew Partin, Ronnie Partin, Bobby Partin, David Hamilton, Andrew Denton, and Bob McClain.  Honorary pallbearers are grandchildren Jacob, Emily, and Thomas Hamilton; Isla, Ashton, and Everett Partin; and Charlie Denton.
