Thomas Umberger

Tom Umberger, Nashville TN, age 73, passed away June 20, 2014, at NHC of Franklin, TN. Born in Roanoke, Virginia, July 24, 1940. Predeceased by parents Billie Lois and Gordon William Umberger, sisters Jean England and Barbara Johnson, brother Richard Umberger. Survived by: Brother: Charley Umberger of White House, TN, Sisters: Brenda Howell of Columbia, TN and Patricia Cosky (John) of Spring Hill, TN, Stepdaughter: Mechele Halder (Paul) of Chesterfield, V A and many nieces, nephews and friends. Tom graduated from Hume-Fogg Technical and Vocational High School 1958 and soon enlisted in the US Marine Corps, honorably serving 6 years. After exploring several job opportunities, Tom began a long, honorable career in real estate. Always light-hearted, he loved to laugh and have fun, and he enjoyed the company of other people. A modest man with simple needs, Tom knew who he was and didn't want anyone to tell him what to do or how to do it. Tom was loved by his family and many friends and will be missed. A Celebration of Tom's Life will be held Saturday afternoon, July 12, from 2:00 – 4:00 at 1611 Galleria Boulevard, Brentwood TN. The family suggests that friends may, if they wish, honor Tom by contributing to their favorite charity.
