Obituary

Wade Allen Grindle passed away on October 10, 2026, at the age of 56.

Wade was larger than life in every sense of the phrase. Funny, stubborn, wicked smart, and a big ol’ teddy bear, he was a man who loved hard, laughed loud, and lived life on his own terms.

Wade had a way of turning strangers into friends, ordinary moments into unforgettable stories, and just about any gathering into an adventure. Known for his booming laugh, legendary hugs, and a lifetime of shenanigans, Wade lived big, loved hard, and left people with stories they’ll be telling for years to come.

Wade proudly served his country in the United States Navy from October 1990 through October 1995 with his final duty assignment aboard the USS Samuel Gompers (AD-37), homeported in Alameda, California. His service earned him several military honors and commendations.

Whether it was an unexpected phone call, a fiercely competitive game of dice, or one of his famous back hugs, Wade had a gift for making people feel special. His friendships were built on laughter, loyalty, and countless shared memories.

Wade was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Louanna Grindle. He is survived by his children, Caitlin and Dakota; his granddaughter, Audrey; his brother and sister, Nora & Pete, 3 nephews along with many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Wade wasn’t perfect, and he never pretended to be. He was unapologetically himself—sometimes outrageous, often hilarious, and always unforgettable. Those who loved him wouldn’t have had him any other way.

His enormous presence will be deeply missed, but the stories, laughter, and love he leaves behind will live on in everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

Rest easy, Big Daddy Grin. You sure gave us one hell of a ride.

Details regarding a celebration of Wade’s life will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
