Jeri Ashley

May 14, 1954 — July 14, 2021

Nolensville

Jeri Lynn Ashley, 67, of Memphis, TN was a kindhearted mother, sister, and friend. She left this world peacefully on July 14, 2021 at Morning Pointe of Brentwood with family by her side.

She was born to the late James and Lois Marsh on May 14, 1954 in Granite City, IL and embarked on a prolific career in nursing after graduating Triad High School and received her Bachelor’s in Nursing from Murray State University and Master’s in Nursing from the University of Tennessee.

She is survived by her sons, Richard and wife Hannah and Benjamin and wife Bethany, and sisters, Beverly and Mary.

Jeri loved her church in which she raised her family, where she came prepared every Sunday with equal parts insight from regular reflection and irreverent humor from a genetic wit. Both old-fashioned and pioneering, she crocheted blankets as handmade gifts and challenged everyone, including herself, to be more accepting and open-minded. She threw stones not at glass houses but glass ceilings; her career in nursing leaves a legacy in the coworkers, patients, and families she touched. And the glass was always half-full, an optimism she passed on to her sons on whom she tested all her jokes first.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 am on July 17, 2021 at Trinity United Methodist Church at 1738 Galloway Avenue Memphis, TN 38112. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Jeri to Memphis Union Mission.
