Rev. Florence Elizabeth Riley, age 89, departed into the arms of the LORD on March 14, 2020 at 6:47 p.m. in Portland, TN.
Florence was predeceased by her father, Ross Meadors, Sr.; her mother, Lula F. Meadors; her husband, Harry L. Riley; her daughters, Donna M. Goforth(Marshall) and Deborah D. Rose; her sons, Samuel E. Zentz and Archie R. Zentz(Delores); her sisters, Reba Pecori and Peggy Will(Jeff); her half-sister Elizabeth; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Florence was survived by her two sons, Paul R. Zentz, Jr. and Donny L. Zentz(Carol); her brothers, Ross Meadors, Jr(Evelyn) and James W. Meadors(Rita); her grandchildren, Paula Brumit(Jack), Pamela Houchin(Roger), Samuel Zentz(Elizabeth), Joseph Zentz(Christi), Laura Stacey(Sterling), Nancy Mims(Edward), Tonua Goosetree, Artie Zentz, Josh Zentz, Beth Harper, James Harper, John Harper, Faith Harper, Misty Summers(Shawn), Bonnie Zentz, Cheryl Lawless(Ben), Donny Zentz, Thomas Vaden, Willy Vaden(Samantha), Christopher Zentz, and Christina Zentz; her 48 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and her great-granddaughter/adopted daughter, Destiny Riley.
Florence was Born on July 1, 1930 in Nashville, TN. As a young adult, she became a trained beautician and worked out of her home. In the ’60s, when she was in her 30s, she enjoyed working at the very popular Harveys department store in downtown Nashville for many years, even transferring to a new Harveys branch that opened up in Madison Square. Florence loved Elvis and had a large stack of Elvis albums and even got to visit Graceland. She loved wrestling and her favorites were Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero. She and her husband sponsored and attended a wrestling show in Springfield, Tn, where Jeff Jarrett performed.
In 1980, Florence married Harry L. Riley; They were both ordained ministers. They attended Millersville Assembly of God with preacher Paul Baggot, where Florence’s daughter, Donna, and granddaughter, Tonua, both got married. Florence enjoyed being a housewife, baking, cooking, sewing, crocheting, and family time. She attended the family reunions yearly.
Funeral is to be held at time pending on date pending at Joelton Memorial Gardens in Joelton, Tn . Burial will follow. Samuel Zentz of House of Bread and Living Water church will be officiating.
